A statue in Romilla |
This week has been pretty uneventful thus far. I've been more homesick than usual every since Paul and his family left last week, but I'm moving forward nonetheless. I went to Beatriz's mom's house on Friday for lunch, she lives in a small neighborhood town outside of Granada called Romilla, which has no more than 10 streets. It's filled with almost all of Beatriz's relatives, including at least 5 of her brothers and sisters, so we were able to walk from one house to the next saying hello and having snacks. One of her sisters just got two new twin puppies that are no more than two months old, so I got to play with them for most of the afternoon.

I spent Saturday at the house by myself playing the piano, it was just what I needed to unwind from the week. On Easter Sunday I went to my host grandparent's house, Lola and Pepe, for lunch. We had typical food of Semana Santa which wasn't my favorite but not bad. It wasn't the same as a typical Easter dinner at home, but it was better than nothing.
I went to my culture class on Monday morning and we talked about typical foods of Semana Santa. Turns out I had tried everything we talked about, which was pretty cool! My family tried really hard to make sure I got to fully experience Semana Santa and it's customs.

Well, today is Wednesday and I have three more classes to go to and then I'm heading to the Malaga airport to fly to Italy with Nicole!! I have a two hour bus ride from Granada to Malaga at 9 tonight, and then my flight leaves Malaga around 7:30 Thursday morning. I will be arriving in Venice, Italy around 12:30 tomorrow!! I will also be visiting Florence and Rome on my weekend adventure, so I am beyond excited. I won't get back to Granada until around 3AM Monday morning, but it's totally worth it. I will be sure to show pictures when I get home, after I get a little rest of course!
